Impressionism

Growing up I dreamed of one day having the greatest job in the world . playing centerfield for the New York Yankees and maybe in the off season being the next great point guard for the Knicks. hey , what can I say? I dream BIG! my other great passion was art. when I didn’t have a basketball in my hands there was pencils and paintbrushes to keep me busy.

inspired by the Impressionist , Van Gogh , Pissarro , Signac , Degas , Renoir and the one artist that really pushes my buttons Claude Monet . I have always felt that these are the true geniuses in all of art history. Monet once said , “ I am pursuing the impossible , I want to paint the air.” and he did. to understand how to create depth by blinding stereopsis and allowing shading and perspective to control their vision showed how truly ahead of the times these artist were.

the only other artist that I feel compares to their accomplishments would be the cave painters from France and Spain , such beautiful work , which just from a technical standpoint alone was amazing.

but some how in the choas of my life I lost track of my passions and just within the last few years I've found the way back. having lost the touch for pencils and brushes , it is with photography that I chosen to express myself and try and accomplish what the great impressionist have by using a camera. motion , multiple exposures , overlays , pans all with in and out of exposures and anything else that comes to mind to try and achieve what I see with my head and my heart.

while that centerfielding thingy may not of worked out as I had once hoped the search for the keys to unlock the secrets of my dreams continues. which reminds me of something Monet also said :

My life has been nothing but a failure.

I truly hope , whether it was this side or the other that Monet finally realized just how important to the world he truly is.

A happy Surprise

A few months ago I added a gadget to this blog called , “ Popular Post “ . a few changes were made this week that was received with very positive results.

One was I decided to change the gadget set up to the most popular over the last 30 days instead of the ‘ all time most ‘ . The changes to the list are now more frequent and seem to draw a lot more attention.

Second I left a link on Facebook to a post from last year and just typed , “ A look back “ . It was surprising from the e-mails and messages how much people liked the idea. So with this encouragement , every Sunday I will leave a link on Facebook to an earlier post from my , Lost in the Adirondacks site.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and support .

Forget reason , I'd rather die of Passion

riding, rising above the warm currents

till the last ray of light

                         settling

                   like the butterfly

                  softly from the skies

                            my

                    warmth in the cold

                    company when alone

                 shining light in the dark

                tutelage for the first light

                          life ?

forget reason , I’d rather die of passion

Sandy is Coming !!!

Well I guess Irene wasn't enought last year , we are now going to get hit with hurricane Sandy. ( Who thought of that one? ) This time with a huge northeasterner headed in the same area which means we can add snow and sleet to the mix. The weather people are calling it Frankenstorm , cute .

By the time this clears out all the leaves from Michigan to Lubec will be riding the gulf stream on their way to Europe .

Happy Birthday Kevin !!!

In Van's words : It's real

This newest release is so Van Morrison and yet so different at the same time that one can’t help but wonder how he keeps doing it. Just when you sit back, relax and feel so comfortable with Van’s life time body of work he up’s and changes speed on us.

There is the typical Morrison songs like , “ Educating Archie “ to a different reflection of work like , Open the Door , Retreat and View to the emotionally crippling , “ End of the Rainbow “ that I found myself listening to over and over and over again.

This new release just reinforces my belief that Van Morrison is the most important , influential and inspiring artist the world has seen over the last 50 years.

A bright future a coming

Dreams, dreams and more dreams, having passed another birthday my future is coming closer to a new awakening. While the goals have remained the same the road has changed considerably over the last year, thanks to some wonderful people that have help show me the possibilities and encouraged me to continue working on making my dreams come true.

The first step was to realize what is important to me .It is not fame or fortune, book deals or gallery exhibits; I couldn’t care less about these things. It’s teaching photography , there is nothing more satisfying to me then to see the beaming smile on some one’s face after you show them something new and different. That photography is more then just making a beautiful photograph, it’s a way to discover one’s inter-self, to have fun and enjoy life with all the wonderful possibilities along the way.

To work with children and their exciting and wonderful view of the world and adults to help them to find the road back to seeing like children. The smiles and laughter will keep me young and happy. There is still a ways to go but my wacky little trail seems to be headed in the right direction.

The second step is to figure out the actual move which appears to be much more difficult. Anyone want to buy a 3 story condo in Troy NY ?
