On a Clear Day

It's amazing how clear things can be once you throw everything out of focus.

Rte 86 , From Lake Placid to Wilmington

Just a short distance from each other but enough to keep one busy photographing for days and days.

The Adirondacks is the largest publicly protected area in the contiguous US , covering 6 million acres in northern New York. --- bigger than Yosemite , Yellowstone , Glacier , Grand Canyon and the Great Smoky Mountains combined.

It is not a place you go for a week and can expect to see everything. each year I usually pick a different location to set up headquarters and work from there . after all these years I've seen a lot of it but haven't seen a lot more.

Tracking the Color

I would rather sit on a pumpkin , and have it all to myself , than be crowded on a velvet cushion.

Henry David Thoreau

This has always been my favorite time of year and most active , maybe it is because I was born in the Autumn and it just feel like new on it's arrival.

So it's time to track the color from the Adirondacks , Vermont , New Hampshire , Maine down to Manhattan , west New York with a pitstop in the Catskills and back home for a rest before checking the local area.
