Hey Hey We're the Monkees

It's not surprising that 55 years later that the Monkees are still big news . With songs written by the likes of Neil Diamond , Carole King and Michael Nesmith they topped the charts regularly for a two year period , How many other groups can say Jimi Hendrix was their opening act? 

24 hour music videos was Nesmith's idea and he was offered the production manager's job for MTV . He declined for other adventures . The Monkees may not have been the Beatles or the Rolling Stones but what other groups from the 60's are remembered so fondly?
