Acadia NP
When I was younger I used to love going to Acadia NP in October. It is a wonderful place to photograph , so beautiful and easy access to most areas . In a week you could come home with enough photographs to keep you busy for months.
this year for the first time in 9 years I visited and was shocked . it has turned in to a madhouse with so many people . crowded everywhere . You will find that your waiting in line for everything. waiting to go to breakfast after 10 am and your still standing in line outside.
the one good thing , it is still one of the best fall foliage places to visit in the east. just plan at least a week there should you want to see most everything you would like too.

Rte 86 , From Lake Placid to Wilmington
Just a short distance from each other but enough to keep one busy photographing for days and days.
The Adirondacks is the largest publicly protected area in the contiguous US , covering 6 million acres in northern New York. --- bigger than Yosemite , Yellowstone , Glacier , Grand Canyon and the Great Smoky Mountains combined.
It is not a place you go for a week and can expect to see everything. each year I usually pick a different location to set up headquarters and work from there . after all these years I've seen a lot of it but haven't seen a lot more.

Tracking the Color
I would rather sit on a pumpkin , and have it all to myself , than be crowded on a velvet cushion.
Henry David Thoreau
This has always been my favorite time of year and most active , maybe it is because I was born in the Autumn and it just feel like new on it's arrival.
So it's time to track the color from the Adirondacks , Vermont , New Hampshire , Maine down to Manhattan , west New York with a pitstop in the Catskills and back home for a rest before checking the local area.
