Baseball

I know a lot of people think baseball is boring. Most complaints are the  ' game ' is too long and there is no action. And so the decision makers have tried to change that. There are more homeruns , they took away the pitches for an intentional walk and now time the pitcher.

But with each change , I see them cutting the heart and soul out of the game.

Baseball is the one game that was designed not to have time restrictions, The game may look slow and actionless but there is a lot going on all the time. From the manager shifting defenses for each batter and base situation to the pitcher and catcher talking in code , to the batter scratching his nuts trying to figure what the pitch will be.

Players are the most skilled of any sport. As Ted Williams once said , " There is nothing harder than taking a round ball and a round bat and hitting it squarely. " There are average hitters that fielded like Greek Gods enshrined in the HOF. The vastness of the game , the speed and skill to chase a ball moving at more than a 100 mpg.

From the stands they make it look so easy one would think , heck , I could do that. But make no mistake , it takes perfect vision , speed , agility , strength , great eye hand coordination and intelligence to play , even as a bench player. 

I miss the game I grew up with , money changed all that , but I still love it.
